Online Tenant Screening & Background Check
FREE Registration! (No Monthly, Yearly or Hidden Fees)

Social Security Verification is an option in YouCheckCredit's tenant screening that allows you to verify that your new tenant is actually the rightful owner of the Social Security Number provided on the application. The most common fraudulent item of a rental application is the use of someone else's Social Security Number but Social Security Number verification can catch those fraudulent thieves.
When you run a credit report and choose the Social Security Verification option, then the instant report will provide you with the name and state issued and whether the number is valid or not.
You can't be too careful when checking whether someone is really who they say they are. You can have someone steal someone else's identity in order to try and get into an apartment rental, but without any intention of paying the rent. They don't care about blasting their credit rating -- since they know you can't report who they really are! They just go rent-free for month and month, trying to go as long as possible while you go through a long, painful, expensive eviction process. And when you are finally able to kick them out, they just move on to the next property, hoping to play the game again.
If you have a need for tenant screening be sure to take advantage of Social Security Check. This is just another avenue to take when verifying the true history of a prospective tenant. No landlord should have to deal with a deadbeat tenant.
